Camping & Campsites in Spain

Camping in Spain is not very common among the tourists, but it is a different way to discover the coasts, as well as the Spanish cities and natural parks. Camping also is an economical alternative to hotels and it brings you closer to the Spanish nature.

Among German, French and English tourists camping in Spain is becoming increasingly popular. Many foreign tourists arrive in Spain with caravans and /or motor homes for longer stays and on many Spanish campsites you can find people who literally have made the campsite their home.

Camping in Spain is not allowed except on authorized campsites, but the prices are not very high and the services are usually good. Forget to put up your tent and camp on Spanish beaches, it will only bring you into trouble, and you will almost for sure get fined! If you park your caravan or motor home make sure you move it often, and forget all exterior signs of a longer stay like washing lines, tables and chairs, etc.

Many campsites has camping toilets. Portable camping toilets are very useful and can also be found where other events a weddings, concerts, etc. are arranged.

Campsites are common along the Spanish coasts. It is not allowed to camp on the Spanish beaches. There are more than a hundred campsites only in Andalusia in southern Spain. In many natural areas there are free campsites and you often find convenient campsites near the big cities. The campsites in Spain are divided into three different categories according to the services that they offer.
