Formentera

Weather: Weather forecast and temperatures on Formentera today: Click here!

Formentera is located slightly south of Ibiza. Formentera is a small island. In winter Formentera only has 7000 inhabitants. During the summer months the population increases much and reaches 35 000.

On Formentera no distances are long: The longest distance you will find is only 20 kilometers. In other words, the perfect place to walk or go cycling.

To Formentera you arrive by ferry or boat from Ibiza. Ferrys operates between the islands throughout the year, but they are more frequent in summer.  During the summer months the nightlife in the capital San Francisco de Xavier is bustling, but the winter on Formentera is nothing for those who want to go out in evenings.

Markets on Formentera

From May to October there are several markets on Formentera. The handicrafts Market "Fira de la Mola" is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 16.00 to 21.00. Other markets are "of San Francesc": Open every day from 10.00 to 14.00. "Es Pujols': Every day from 18.00 to 24.00. "La Savina": From 10:30 to 24:00 every day in July and August.

Music on Formentera

From June to September you have the opportunity to listen to live music on Fridays and Saturdays. On Friday nights rock music is played in Sant Ferran, and jazz on Saturdays in Sant Francesc. The events start 22:00.

Formentera is viewed by some as the last bastion of earthly paradise in the Mediterranean, is solely accessible by ferry from Ibiza. It is a tiny island with an area of less than eighty square kilometers, separated from Ibiza by only 11 miles. Apart from the two rocky promontories of La Mola and Cap de Barbaria, it is practically flat and has just one town, that of Sant Francesc de Formentera. Due to its small size and fine sands, Formentera is a magnet for tourists seeking escape and tranquillity. Fortunately, Formentera has grown in harmony with the surroundings and its own resources, and has succeeded in maintaining a balance between modernity and tradition.
